QotD: What I Love About Vox

In honor of Vox's launch tomorrow, what's your favorite feature or aspect of Vox?

I like the features that make vox more of a community in and of itself  where you can jump in not knowing anyone and start picking up other Voxy folks. I'm also partian to the organize area where I can upload pictures and link to books and movies and such.

  1. Okee, so I have to know, what are some of the things you use to find Voxy people? As someone who ended up here form LJ, Vox actually seemed less community oriented, but I keep coming back because of other glossy and fun features. But, so far, I haven't picked up a new friends set, and with everyone I read still over at LiveJournal, I don't have a lot of good excuses to use all of the glossy beauty that is Vox. (It seems QotD is going to be one of them. Hello, BTW!)

  2. Oddly, I think writing this comment helped me jump to the same conclusion and post about it back in my blog. I think the main gist of it is that I see LJ as a collection of self-selecting communities (maybe because there aren't any of those features) and Vox is trying to be a community in and of itself. And when I looked at it that way, it was kind of a comfy, glowy fuzzy feeling, basically, until I thought about how ill behaved people on the internet are and maybe I didn't want to be in a community with all of them. And, then, you know, realizing that I thought that way sort of made me sad. Aww.

  3. I don't know if it will change with the influx of people when Vox goes public, but so far I have not found there to be lots of general snarky-ness around here.. but yeah I agree there are quite a few folks out there who behave terribley ill mannered on the internet... I dont think they have been invited to vox yet though.. who would conciously invite a troll? If things get hairy after an influx of new people I might start bumping some neighbors up into my friends circle.. but i've tried not to do that, because I like to be able to ramble on to no one in particular. I think the phrase one of my neighbors used was "blog like no one is reading" (dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening, blog like no one is reading) The reason I defected here from LJ is bc some of the things I want to blog about some of the heartaches and frusterations in my life are things that the group of friends on LJ will report back to the person its about. and I dont need that.. granted I haven't blogged those issues... but here I feel like I can.

  4. Yeah, it's one of those difficult things to figure out in any online community, but I suppose I should stop being a "glass is half empty" sort of guy and make the most of these fledgling times where everyone is friendly and cool. So I'm going to be superly over-presumptuous and add you to my neighborhood.
