Done... but with errors on the page

I'm amazed at how often that error is a lack of the cursor so I can reply to someone's post. How manytimes can a gal refresh the page before her patience runs out? about 3.. after 3 tries if there is still no cursor... I give up.

QotD: My First Flight

Do you remember your first flight? Where did you go? Why?
Submitted by Laurel.

Sadly, I have never flown period.  I have however ridden a zip line and I have jumped on horseback... I know that isn't the kind of flight the Q meant. But it is as close as I have gotten to flight. And the first of those? would have been jumping over a creek horseback in my teens at summer camp.. in a western saddle.. for those of you who do not understand the significance of that... (western saddles have a horn on the front.. where a cowboy ties his rope.. when you jump.. that horn is in the way and landing on it in anyway can be a life changing experience) So for a few weeks I had a large and ugly bruise on my inner right thigh where I landed very wrong.....

QotD: I Can't Believe I Ate This

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
Submitted by Megan.

thats a tough one.. and not because I eat a ton of weird stuff either.. but because I just dont.. I shy away from food that is awkweird.. if you ask my husband the weirdest thing i've ever eaten he will tell you its uncooked sweet corn right off the plant, still on the cob.... or possibly the little pickles wrapped in cream cheese and corned beef.....

but really.. unless you count eating coffee beans here and there in college.. or venison weird... I'm not really a weirdfoodie... (I dont think I am anyway)

QotD: My Earliest Memory

What is your earliest memory?
Submitted by Megan.

While I cant think of one single earliest memory, all of the Easrliest memories are from living in my Grandparents house on the lake. They are varied memories, among them sitting on the dock next to my dad's tackle box and can of beer while he fished and sneaking a few drinks while he wasnt looking. Sitting on the green/brown/tan mottled carpet watching tv,  (Mickey Mouse Club, Land of the Lost, Danger Will Robinson)reruns on Saturday mornings maybe? I remember Dad rowwing us across the lake to the beach to swim. swimming in the lake in summer... skating on it in winter...

I remember the day Mom came in the house crying and was too upset to answer me when I asked what was wrong. That was the day the dog was run over by the schoolbus.

And I remember one day when my dad was going to the grocery store for bread and milk and I wanted to go too, but I dont think he heard me say it... My sister helped me rush to get my shoes and socks on , only to get out the door after Dad was down the drive. I was crushed.

I remember my mom always seemed to be in the kitchen, and I would sit  at the kitchen table and color or draw.

There is more, but I'll have to add it later.

fly on a stick? I love fly on a stick!

Or at least the Mantid used too... Its cold here; summer is over and mantids dont over-winter... sadly, the male has already died, and I think the female is headed that direction. She has been eating well until today, today she ate nothing. Even when I stabbed a fly on a skewer and waved it infront of her.. nothing. Her abdomen is getting kind of flat...all the others I have now watched expire did the same. On a brighter note she laid two egg cases while we had her and so we may very well have a couple hundred babies in the spring...

Despite the fact that I knew they had a fairly short expiration date.. I'm still very sad to think she is dying.

QotD: The Day I Met My BFF(s)

How did you meet your best friend(s)?

lots of ways..

My very best friend is my husband and we met at college. Both on teh PAS team (think college FFA) there is a computer contest, a debate, a scholastic bowl and some other aggie acedemic contests...

My best girlfriend was also met in college, we showed up at teh the barn to do "foal watch" which at our little hick aggie school meant you spent the night sleeping in the class room in the barn and you got up every hour to check on the pregnant mare to look for any signs she was going to drop her foal anytime soon.  we showed up for this adventure wearing practically identical clothing  both with our cars full of our bedding, a radio, a deck of cards, snacks,  tapes and cd's to listen too and a couple books to read.. and we both left it all out in the car until we knew just how much crap the other person had brought. We were already friends, but this solidified the kindred soul thing.

I also have another kindred spirit from college met in the Equine program

and kindred spirit highschool met in choir drama and such

and a kindred spirit met on the internet(on a book fan website). a couple of those actually...

QotD: My Ambitious Wish List

What are 5 things you'd like to accomplish in the next 5 years?

I've been thinking about this one since I first read it, I'm not very good at making goals and plans  that fall into a middle range.. I'm good with short term; this week or month... and long term.. I want to raise happy healthy kids..  but 5 years? I'm not good with that what do you see yourself doing in 5 years or 10 years... but I'll give it a shot..

1.Debt-free. The Business and the Personal Finances ... save the house, maybe a car loan and a loan on a truck.... but no credit cards... at least no running balances..we have so learned our lesson on those.. and that lesson just keeps biting us in the butt.

2.I'd like to have a dslr nice camera nice lenses and enough of a small business on the side to support my own habit. I like to  photograph kids and I'd like to be good at it so I could give to others those same special pictures I have of my own kids where I look at them and think that is so Ian or that is so Jamie

3. to be honest I'd like the computer to keep up with the photography.... I dont want to be irritated that the computer is 5+ years old and slower than molasses in winter

4.I'd like to have a few things done on the property, there are alot of very longterm projects.. but I'd like to convert the corn crib into a barn, and have our fence in the process of being redone...we will have to replace it a peice at a time.. but in 5 years I'd like to think we would have started....

5. In 5 years I'd like to have enough of a comfortable income to have a 15th anniversary party.. and invite every person I know and not worry about what it would set us back.. just have a good time. I'd like to have a Tenth Anniversary party in May.. but I dont know that it will happen... and fitting back into my wedding dress would be such a bonus.. but I think that is goal #6

Well I guess once I got started it wasn't as hard as I thought....

so... why dont we at least compare apples to apples

I received an email the other day witht he title of "dont buy it" all about the USPS releasing a muslim Christmas stamp this holiday season. The picture of the stamp is a blue stamp with gold design, islamic script? in the shape of a triangle(i think). The email goes on to complain about the Ten Commandments not being allowed on any federal buildings. The Originator of the email has failed to notice that for how many years the Blessed Virgin Mother and the Christ Child have graced US Postage at Christmas Time, as has St. Nicholas. (Whether or not everyone veiws him as a religious figure there are many who do.) And it seems they have also forgotten that the USPS issues Hannukah stamps.  I'd like to tell you the email didn't go on, but it did reminding us of how many Muslim bombings have terrorized our country. (I wont list them here) Apparently we are back to blaming the entire Muslim community for the acts of a zealous few; while we are at it lets blame all teh Catholics for the acts or a few radical prolifers, or maybe we could still hold a grudge against the jews for crucify-ing Christ.....

Lets take away everybodies Chistmas/Hannukah/Holiday/Seasonal Stamps..  better yet lets outlaw stamps all together.

*sigh*

QotD: Strike Up The Band

Do you play any musical instruments?

Not really I played Clarinet in grade school and high school, and in high school I took up the tenor sax, because our tiny little band needed another deep "voiced" supporting instrament... and 2/3 of the band played flute or clarinet.. I liked it very much. to be background, and low harmony and support, rather than to be the melody and visible...

QotD: Name That Horse

You've been through the desert on a horse with no name.  Except your horse does have a name.  What is it?
Submitted by edubya.vox.com.

If I'd been through the desert on a horse it would be on one i've known well, and so it would be on Cat (short for Catriona) or Bob....  Cat is the mare I currently own, and Bob was a horse I borrowed for school, in a heartbeat I'd have bought Bob had I had the money, sadly I lost track of Bob, or try to buy him now just for his golden years.
