QotD: Pass The Dice

What is your favorite board game?
Submitted by I'm Unique.

Hmmm... I'm guessing Mah-Jongg  isn't considered a board game.. so I'll have to jump on the wagon with the many people who have said Clue. We had the old old version with the cartoon drawings, I like it better than the pictures.. but its nostalgic for me. And our lead pipe got lost so we had a twist tie for a lead pipe.. lol

We have the computer version and it wasn't until I played it with my husband that I got to be Miss Scarlet, my sister never would let me. :P

  1. I haven't played Clue in so long, I remeber the old version with the cartoon drawings, I wonder if it's still in my parents basement somewhere? I would consider Mah-Jongg a board game, so you have excellent taste in games

  3. I don't get to play much anymore, sadly. When I was growing up we played once a week or so, my grandparents would come over for the day to have lunch and play cards or Mah-Jongg. I have a set, if I could just coerce a few people into learning the game .. I might sucker them into playing.. or if I could find three old men who know the game.. but they would probably kick my butt... we never played cut throat growing up.

  4. I have a mah-jongg set, but I'm not clear on the rules. Could you recommend a book or a website that might help? I know I'd love the game if I could figure out how to play, but we don't know anyone else who plays.

  5. There is a book - "The Book of MahJong. An Illustrated Guide" by Amy Lo. You could try to read it, it's good.As for website - you can just google something like "mahjong rules" and see for yourself.Good luck! If you have any questions about the rules don't hesitate, just ask :)

  7. I think my Mom got a book from the library to learn to play.. the game operates alot like a rummy type game.. we used to have a card game that was a knock off of Mah-Jongg with all the same rules and scoring.. its too bad it isn't available it would be a good way to learn...Too bad there isn't anywhere, that I know of online to meet up and play... I'm also sure as soon as a game started my kids would do something heinous and I'd have to go referee :Pi read wiki-hows article and despite knowing how to play already.. it confused me...too much emphasis on the money/chips..
